Butte County Green Waste Information

Butte County Green Waste Cart Butte County residents of Thermalito, Kelly Ridge, Las Plumas and South Oroville will be provided curbside recycling and green waste collection starting in October 2007. This comes at no additional cost to customers with existing collection service.

Butte county residents in areas without curbside collection may still bring their recycling and green waste to the Recology Butte Colusa Counties facility. It is located at 2720 South Fifth Avenue in Oroville, and is open during our normal business hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm and Saturday, 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Acceptable Green Waste Materials
Only place green waste materials into your green container!
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Pallets (Broken down)
  • Scrap wood
    Non-painted & non-treated; nails ok
  • Tree and bush prunings
  • Weeds
Important Green Waste Notes!
  • Tree and shrub prunings must be cut small enough to fit inside the container.
  • Fill your provided green container completely before using any personal containers or bundles.
  • Do not place yard clippings in plastic or paper bags. Place green waste loose in container.

Unacceptable Green Waste Materials
Please do not place the following materials into your green container!
Construction Debris
  • Concrete, rocks, dirt, asphalt
Electronic / Universal Waste
  • Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches
Garbage
  • Un-recyclable items
Household Hazardous Waste
  • Paints, solvents, motor oil, cleaners, corrosives, used syringes
Organic Material
  • Food scraps, animal feces or manure, painted or treated lumber, plywood or particle board, palm leaves, cactus, pampas grass, ice plant
Recyclable Material
  • Recyclable glass, metal, paper and plastic

Proper Container Placement And Storage
Recycling, green waste and garbage containers are collected by a semi-automated sanitation truck. The automated truck requires ample room to collect containers safely and effectively. For more information on container placement, please view our
