City of Chico Recycling Information

City of Chico Recycling Cart Recycling is more important today than it has ever been before. In order to keep our communities safe and clean, we all must pitch in to help recycle and reuse as much as possible. A convenient curbside recycling collection program is provided to all residential customers in the city of Chico for no additional charge.

Acceptable Recycling Materials
Only place recyclable materials into your blue container!
  • All colors of glass beverage and food containers
    (Please rinse and remove lids)
  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin/steel food and beverage cans
    (Please rinse - Labels are okay)
Plastic Containers with recycling symbols 1-7:
  • Milk and juice jugs
  • Shampoo, detergent, and other household bottles (Please rinse and remove lids)
  • Soft drink and water bottles
  • Yogurt, margarine, and other food containers
Paper Most clean and dry household paper:
  • Cardboard
    (Bundle larger pieces and place next to container)
  • Computer paper
  • Envelopes (Including plastic window types)
  • Food boxes (cereal, crackers)
  • Junk mail and catalogs
  • Magazines and phone books
  • Newspaper

Unacceptable Recycling Materials
Please do not place the following un-recyclable materials into your blue container!
Construction Debris
  • Concrete, rocks, dirt
Electronic / Universal Waste
  • Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches
Green Waste
  • Grass, leaves, tree and bush cuttings
Household Hazardous Waste
  • Paints, solvents, motor oil, cleaners, corrosives, used syringes
Un-Recyclable Glass, Metal, Paper and Plastic

Proper Container Placement And Storage
