City of Colusa Green Waste Information

City of Colusa Green Waste Cart Green waste collection is available to all City of Colusa residents. Additional carts are available for a small monthly fee. Green waste is collected every other week, on the same day as your normal collection. For more information, or to sign up, please contact a customer service representative.

Place grass clippings, leaves, small branches in your green yard waste cart. Lid must be closed. Excess yard waste can be placed in regular 32 gallon garbage cans or tied in bundles. Bundles should be no longer than 3' X 3' and placed next to your cart.

Acceptable Green Waste Materials
Only place green waste materials into your green container!
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Pallets (Broken down)
  • Scrap wood
    Non-painted & non-treated; nails ok
  • Tree and bush prunings
  • Weeds
Important Green Waste Notes!
  • Tree and shrub prunings must be cut small enough to fit inside the container.
  • Fill your provided green container completely before using any personal containers or bundles.
  • Do not place yard clippings in plastic or paper bags. Place green waste loose in container.
Unacceptable Green Waste Materials
Please do not place the following materials into your green container!
Construction Debris
  • Concrete, rocks, dirt, asphalt
Electronic / Universal Waste
  • Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches
Garbage
  • Un-recyclable items
Household Hazardous Waste
  • Paints, solvents, motor oil, cleaners, corrosives, used syringes
Organic Material
  • Food scraps, animal feces or manure, painted or treated lumber, plywood or particle board, palm leaves, cactus, pampas grass, ice plant
Recyclable Material
  • Recyclable glass, metal, paper and plastic

Proper Container Placement And Storage
Recycling, green waste and garbage containers are collected by a semi-automated sanitation truck. The automated truck requires ample room to collect containers safely and effectively. For more information on container placement, please view our

NOTE: Our trucks can pick up yard waste containers weighing up to 150 pounds.
